The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is the first book in the trilogy written by Douglas Adams. It is based on the first four parts of the radio series which was aired with the same name. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy Summary:

The story follows the tale of Arthur Dent who receives orders from the city council for demolishing of his house at the start of the book. Later, his friend Ford comes to visit him and warn him that the world is going to end. Ford is an alien who has come to Earth to find the Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy which is an informative guide containing information about all planets in the whole universe. An alien race Vogon is all set to destroy the whole world and Ford along with Arthur gets on the spaceship of theirs before they leave.

As a punishment, they are made to listen to the Vogon poetry which is quite terrible. The aliens try to sell Arthur’s brain but he is saved by Zaphod who helps him to escape and towards the end, the whole party decides to feast at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy Review:

In 1979, the book was on the top in the list of best sellers by Sunday Times. It became quite popular as a comedy science fiction for kids and sold 1,000,000 books due to which he received the Pan Award by his publisher. The illustrated version of the book came out in 1994 and there are also many games based on the book.
